The Canadians are off and running in at the 2011 Asia Pacific Championships. It was a windy day at both Lochleys and Holdfast Bay with the greens running around 17 seconds. On a day that saw 4 Canadians play their first International game for Canada – Marg Lepere, Jackie Foster, Greg Wilson and John Aveline.
In the Ladies action the Canadian Women’s Pairs (Lepere/Foster) lost vs Hong Kong 19-15. The Women’s Triples Team of (Mckerihen/Pituley/Berg) had a tight game vs New Zealand but lost 14-7.
In Men’s play Michel Laure endured tricky conditions as he played his first match against Singapore. Things didn’t go his way as a few unlucky breaks had him drop his game 21-10. The Fours team of (Bester/Wilson/Aveline/Mason) played a steady first couple of ends then gained speed and slowly pulled away from Macau winning 23-10 and taking an early lead in their division. They have a big day today starting off with the Americans in the morning and meeting the Hong Kong team in the afternoon.
